McDonald's Highschool Credits

In London, the England the power to award high school credits has been awarded to a few large corporations such as McDonald's. The fast food icon now has the ability to offer credits for the completion of courses that involve skills required to run a McDonald's fast food outlet. This is the first time that the government has awarded national recognition to the corporate training schemes. This however does not mean that colleges and universities will accept these credits for the admission of students, it is still up to them whether or not they will accept the credits. The fast-food giant has been granted the approval to set up courses and have exams to teach students on the students on the skills required to run a fast-food outlet.
I think that this is an outrageous idea to offer a high school credit for having students go through a McDonald's training program. Although this is not available in Canada, the idea may become the topic of discussion here. By awarding the ability to give high school credits to large corporations such as McDonald's, we are in essence giving the educational system to businesses. By providing a McDonald's training program in high schools, we will be educating students with a biased opinion. To give this ability to corporations, we are not giving students an informed opinion, so if McDonald's is allowed to teach courses, they have the opportunity to groom the leaders of tomorrow in a way that makes them impartial to judgments involving McDonald's.

Regulating Car Emissions : How Tough Is Canada

Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon pledged that the regulations for new Canadian car's fuel efficiency will be monitored more severely, similar to the regulations set by the U.S. Government. This is the first time that the Canadian government has taken the steps towards regulation of car emissions. In the past, liberal governments have negotiated with the auto industry for a voluntary emissions standard.
I think that this is a great step for the Canadian Government to take in the fight against global warming and to help our environment. By reducing emissions from cars this makes for less carbon dioxide, a global warming gas, being released into the atmosphere. By taking the initiative to reduce emissions from automobiles the Canadian Government is providing a better future for all Canadians, by providing a healthier Canada with reduced pollutants. This means a lot to me as I will be living in Canada for a long time to come and plan on raising a family here.Keeping a Green and healthy Canada means a lot to me and I applaud the Canadian government on taking the initiative for for making a better Canada for all the citizens in it.
